Gumdiggers is within a short drive from the city over the harbour bridge with many pleasant viewing points along the way. This includes the area under the Shore side of the Harbour Bridge. Another pleasant stopping off point in this area is the Birkenhead Wharf and Hinemoa Park at the bottom of Hinemoa Street.
North Shore people will find us within easy reach from the motorway too.

Gumdiggers is located in Hinemoa Street, Birkenhead, North Shore City.
The road runs down from the Highbury Shopping Centre
(C)

North Shore drivers can come via the road of their choice to Highbury and then into Hinemoa Street.

Those coming from the city can take the Onewa Road off-ramp (B) and continue up the hill to the second set of traffic lights (C) . Turn left here, proceed past the shops until the give way sign at the roundabout. Turn left here and you are in Hinemoa St.

We are down the bottom of the hill just before the road curves away to the right.

For the more adventurous drivers from the city take the Stafford Rd off road (A) (that's the first turnoff on the left of the bridge. You need to stay in the left hand lane).
Just past the Administration Building the road swings left and up a small hill. At the top you have a choice of two streets ahead of you. Take the right hand option by turning right and then an immediate left into Rodney Street then left at the next traffic island into Council Terrace which becomes Maritime Terrace at the bottom of the hill.
This will take you down through Little Shoal Bay which makes a pleasant stop if you have the time.
Continue up what is now Maritime Terrace and turn right at the top into Hinemoa St. 500m up Hinemoa St on your left you will find the prominent two story building of Gumdiggers Restaurant

Another pleasant stopping off point in this area is the Birkenhead Wharf and Hinemoa Park at the bottom of Hinemoa Street
